CHINESE STUDENT ORGANIZATION
For the past 36 years, Rutgers Chinese Student Organization (CSO) has provided a community for the Chinese American population at Rutgers University. CSO recognizes the fact that it is sometimes difficult to achieve a balance as a Chinese/Asian in American society. Questions of identity arise, such as how do you maintain your Chinese heritage in a Western culture? What is the difference between Chinese and Chinese American? What does it mean to be Chinese American? Why is it important to stand up for your rights as a Chinese American? These are just a few questions that CSO tries to address through its meetings, events, and simple discussion between members.

Thus, this organization tries to provide an important conduit for students to connect with other students that are sensitive to their needs. Furthermore, CSO provides opportunities for aspiring entertainers to expressthemselves at our shows, or for students that care about Asian American issues to outreach, or for students who simply want to find people to relate to. However, people of all races and ethnicities, especially during young adulthood, struggle with these identity issues. Therefore, CSO is active in the broader Rutgers community by providing its support and services to other organizations on campus.

Over the years, CSO has become one of the most established organizations at Rutgers. Its success is due to many factors, but the main element is the hardworking, dedicated members. We, at CSO, appreciate its members not only as friends, but also as family.
